2013 Eclipse Winter Cup News and Updates

Hello Participants of the 2013 Eclipse Winter Cup,

We are just two days away from the start of competition for the 2013 Eclipse Winter Cup and we could not be any more excited about the level of competition for this year’s event!  We have attracted the highest level of talent of teams from Southern California and have teams from as far away as Minnesota coming to play in the Winter Cup.

Please realize that many changes were made to the schedule.  Continue to check the website for the most up-to-date information and schedules.

As we approach the start of the event, there are several things that we wanted to make sure everyone is aware of:

Managers please check your team(s) in 1.5 hours before kick-off of your first game.  If you have an 8am game, please arrive 1 hour before kick-off to check your team(s) in.  Check-in will take place at the venue where your team is playing its first game.  If your team is playing at J Serra, check-in will take place at the Tournament Headquarters where you will see a large number of tents.

Members of the Eclipse Winter Cup staff will have your team rosters at check-in, so there is no need to bring one.  However, if you have made changes to you roster, you are welcome to bring that.  By rule, we are allowing up to 8 Guest Players (5 Guest Players for U8’s U9’s and U10’s).  We are allowing teams to write in Guest Players on the the Team Roster at check-in provided they have a laminated Player Card and Medical Release.

The Tournament Schedule is now finalized.  Many changes were made to the schedule to accommodate as many teams and coaches as possible.  We appreciate all of your patience as we completed to schedule to minimize coaching conflicts as well as produce a schedule that allowed for adequate rest time and travel time between venues.  Please keep in mind that the most up-to-date schedule will be posted online!

It wouldn’t be the Eclipse Winter Cup without rain!!!  We have once again utilized All-Weather Turf fields at all of the venues so that we can hold the event…rain or shine!  It is very unrealistic that games will be cancelled or postponed, so plan on bringing your umbrellas and rain gear!

Due to using the All-Weather Turf Fields, we must adhere to strict rules regarding the venues.  ABSOLUTELY no food or drinks (other than water) may be brought on to the fields.  Many venues also prohibit the use of canopies with stakes on the Turf Fields.  Should you have any questions regarding what is/isn’t allowed at your venue, please consult with a Field Marshal (who will be wearing a bright yellow shirt).

When and wherever possible, Players and Coaches will sit on one side of the field and Parents and Spectators will sit on the opposite side of the field.  Please adhere to all instructions given by Field Marshals for this requirement.

Tournament T-shirts will be sold at all venues.  Limited quantities will be available at most locations, and the bulk of the supply will be available at J Serra.  A sample of the T-shirt is attached.  T-shirts are priced at $20 or 2 for $30.
